Course Offerings

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) equips individuals with the skills to identify, understand, and respond to mental health and substance use challenges. With nearly one in five Americans experiencing a mental illness and 130 people dying by suicide daily, it is crucial for organizations to provide members with the tools to recognize warning signs and offer support.

MHFA training empowers participants—including employers, first responders, healthcare professionals, and community leaders—to intervene effectively and connect individuals to appropriate resources.

This evidence-based program covers common symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, crisis intervention techniques, and strategies for promoting recovery.

Participants learn the MHFA Action Plan (ALGEE):

  • Assess for risk
  • Listen nonjudgmentally
  • Give reassurance
  • Encourage professional help
  • Encourage self-help strategies

Studies show that MHFA training increases mental health literacy, reduces stigma, and enhances confidence in assisting those in distress.

Offering MHFA training at your national convention will demonstrate a commitment to your members’ well-being and equip them with life-saving skills. The training is available in in-person or blended formats, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.

By investing in MHFA, your organization fosters a supportive community where individuals feel empowered to seek and provide help when it matters most.
